Eccomelt to Attend CASTEXPO & METALCASTING Congress for the Foundry Industry in Atlanta | Eccomelt356.2 | Substitute for A356.2

Eccomelt is pleased to announce that it will be attending the CASTEXPO 2019. The largest metal casting trade show and congress in North America will be held between April 27 and 30 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.  This year’s theme is “Metal Casting Success Starts Here”, which is significant because it speaks to the importance of this once-every-three-years event.

CastExpo is an important event because it brings together suppliers, buyers and metal casters for one important discussion – the importance of metal casting and how to advance it.  It also attracts attendees of all walks of life, including business owners and executives, engineers and technicians, buying agents and purchasers, professors and students, suppliers and services and office staff and sales managers. All attendees, including Eccomelt, will have the opportunity to check out the latest equipment and sign new deals, network and reconnect with peers and prospects, and learn about the latest developments in metal casting.

This year, the CastExpo will feature a long list of keynote speakers, including Frank Abagnale, the inspiration for the film Catch Me If You Can; Dr. Doru Stefanescu, faculty emeritus at The Ohio State University and University of Alabama; and Kaihan Krippendorff, founder of Outthinker Roundtables.

The Importance of Die Casting to the Aluminum Industry | Eccomelt | Recycled A356.2

Casting is an affordable and widely used method of forming aluminum into products. It is also considered to be a relatively sustainable metal forming process. According to the NADCA, 95% of North American die castings made of aluminum are created using recycled materials. This statistic is significant because there is less need for raw aluminum mining, a process that is not always environmentally friendly. It also signifies the reduction of the amount of aluminum that finds its way into waste areas, which makes the process more economical. Scraps produced during the die casting process can often be recovered, melted down and then used in later castings.

Eccomelt’s Presentation at the CASTEXPO & METALCASTING Congress

At the CASTEXPO&METALCASTING Congress, Eccomelt will present and discuss the test results of the Quebec Metallurgy Center (CMQ) – an independent R&D center – that tested Eccomelt356.2 (A356.2 substitute) in depth from the surface to internal quality of the metal, melting behaviour and melt loss, casting behaviour and achievable mechanical properties when casting 100% Eccomelt356.2 in sand and permanent molds. Eccomelt’s presentation will demonstrate that Eccomelt356.2 is an extremely clean metal with very low impurities. The surface quality is significantly better than any other conventionally recycled (shredded) wheels, and obviously has huge advantages over any re-melted A356 type materials. The Eccomelt356.2 melt rate is very high and additional melt loss from increased surface area (compared to ingots) is minimal. Accordingly, overall melting costs for any foundry should normally by as low as or lower than any type of ingots. In the test results, the mechanical properties of the cast parts were extremely good and certainly comparable with parts made from primary A356.2 ingots. Indeed, a foundry using Eccomelt356.2 can truly benefit from the lower price point without compromising on quality.

Eccomelt | The Importance of the CASTEXPO & METALCASTING Congress

CastExpo is the largest metalcasting exposition in North America and takes place every 3 years. With over 400 exhibitors and expecting over 6000 attendees it is certainly THE meeting place for the foundry industry on the North American continent (world-wide the largest foundry show is the GIFA, which this year will take place in Germany in June and is expected to showcase over 800 exhibitors and attract over 48,000 attendees). The educational program is filled with many interesting technical presentations, including one on Eccomelt356.2, where foundries can learn about new technologies, best practices and materials that can help them become more competitive. Eccomelt LLC is looking forward to educating foundries and die casters on the benefits of Eccomelt356.2 (a direct substitute for A356.2) and engaging in discussions with existing and new potential customers, industry experts, metallurgists, metal buyers, experienced and new members to the foundry community including students considering joining our industry.

Eccomelt356.2 | Direct Substitute for A356.2 Ingot, Sow & T-bar

Alongside Alcan R&D, Eccomelt has developed a patented revolutionary process that produces a specification alloy from aluminum wheels at a lower cost than traditional methods and that meets that EPA definition of CLEAN CHARGE.

Eccomelt ships products to foundries within North America including the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and worldwide, such as France, Ireland, Italy, Serbia, and Spain. Our product is the material of choice for many consumers because it is chemically pure and environmentally-friendly. Its shredded form has achieved higher melting rates than Ingot, Sow or T-Bar. Environmental testing has also proven the process eliminates all coatings.
